Maxfield Parrish

Parrish Blue is an essential film for anyone interested in American artist and illustrator Maxfield Parrish and the Golden Age of Illustration. The film will also be of great interest to educators, museum professional, art dealers and collectors. Parrish Blue was produced in 1967 shortly after the artist's death, and made when his home and studio in Cornish, NH were just about as he left them at age 96. In this rare film, which includes many of Parrish's original canvases, the artist's son, Maxfield Parrish, Jr., and friend and fellow artist Norman Rockwell share their understanding of this man who dominated the popular arts in early 20th-century America. We glimpse much of Parrish's work from magazine covers to advertisements, from huge murals to decorative prints, from book illustrations to note cards.

Free with Museum admission. Reservations not needed. First come, first seated.
