The Manes Family Art & Education Center at Nassau County Museum of Art provides a learning space committed to engaging members of our community in visual art experiences by providing a gateway to the creative process. This newly refurbished building offers a dynamic and inspiring environment in which audiences of all ages and abilities can find creative engagement through a variety of activities, projects, and talks. With art on view, an art studio, a new media lab, a reading room, and outdoor classroom, children, families and adults will have the opportunity to enjoy programs that include traditional and contemporary forms of art processes and art education.

The center is located on the grounds of Nassau County Museum of Art. It is the first building on the left after entering the grounds from Northern Boulevard.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

FAMILIES

Family programs provide children and their adult companions the opportunity to connect while viewing and making art together. Each week we offer projects that encourage curiosity, experimentation and creative thinking through a variety of experiences and materials inspired by current artworks on view in the gallery space.

YOUNG ARTISTS

Programs for young artists offer traditional art making and technology based classes which combine studio art skills with process based exploration. With projects focused on the connection between design, art, science, and technology, opportunities for self-expression, creative thinking and problem-solving are encouraged by art educators in a supportive environment.

ADULT LEARNERS

Designed for adults with all levels of art making experience, programs offer hands on studio art classes led by experienced artists. Projects provide opportunities for personal expression in drawing, painting, printmaking, digital art and photography. A focus on group and individual projects help adults discover and learn art skills and processes.
